Can fiberglass doors be stained?

Yes. American Door fiberglass doors can be stained.

Should steel doors be stained?

We recommend painting American Door steel options.

Does outdoor temperature matter while staining?

Yes. Temperature is extremely important. Poor conditions can cause stain to flake, fade or develop a milky appearance.

Should the door come off the hinges?

No. The weatherstripping can be pulled out of the jambs so the door can remain closed and locked during drying. Push the weatherstripping back into the jambs after the topcoat has dried.

Can I close the door while stain is wet?

The weatherstripping can be pulled out of the jambs so the door can be closed and locked during the drying period.

How do I repair stained-finish nicks or scratches?

Clean the area first with mineral spirits or an all-purpose cleaner. Then use a small artist brush or cotton swab to apply stain to the nicks or scratches.

PREHUNG DOORS

What finish do prehung doors arrive with?
